Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ardyn Prologue Gets A New Trailer, Release Date (VIDEO)

It’s been an impressively long haul since the original release of Final Fantasy XV back in late 2016, but the final story that Square Enix has left to tell is right around the corner in the form of the highly anticipated Episode Ardyn DLC. Confirmed as the last DLC episode for Final Fantasy XV, Episode Ardyn will act as a prequel of sorts to the events of the main game, with players taking the reigns of the enigmatic chancellor Ardyn as he works behind the scenes to bring war to the lands of Eos.

Not unlike what Square Enix did with its heartwarming Brotherhood anime, Episode Ardyn is getting its own prequel anime called Episode Ardyn Prologue. This anime will show glimpses of Ardyn’s life before he is consumed with darkness and his desire for revenge. Square Enix has released a new trailer for the anime, which can be viewed below:

As seen in the above trailer, the Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ardyn Prologue anime seems like it will be telling the story of how Ardyn eventually becomes a king, after which he comes into contact with the ‘Starscourge,’ a disease that is briefly touched on during the main campaign. This should help fill in what remaining gaps we have left in Noctis’ journey, and will act as the last bit of icing on what has become an incredible experience that has only grown over the past two years.

Final Fantasy XV is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The Episode Ardyn Prologue will release in February 2019, with the FFXV DLC arriving at some point in March.
