Final Fantasy XIV ‘Endwalker’ Expansion Revealed (VIDEO)
As expected today’s Final Fantasy XIV special announcement showcase kicked off with quite the bang, with Square Enix announcing the game’s next expansion titled Endwalker. The reveal comes by way of a cinematic teaser trailer that shows the Scions of the Seventh Dawn duking it out with some of the minions heralding the “second coming of the Final Days,” with Alisaie and her brother battling alongside the Warrior of Light, who is now operating in the role of Paladin for this new expansion.
There’s certainly plenty to unpack from the trailer. For one, we have our first look at the new Sage job that Alphinaud is sporting, with Yoshi-P pointing out that he’s using Sage Artifact Gear that is designed specifically for him. The second of the two new jobs is currently unknown, though Yoshi-P confirms that it will be a melee dps class that appears to be somewhat tied to the grim reaper/necromancy, if his latest t-shirt tease is to be believed.
Following the trailer, game director Nobue Uematsu took to the stage to reveal that Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker will actually be coming out in Fall 2021, breaking away from tradition by releasing an expansion at least half a year sooner than the game’s history would have suggested. We don’t currently have a specific release date for the expansion, though it will likely be revealed during the digital Fan Festival taking place on May 15-16, 2021.
Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker is now in development for PC and PS4, with the game also currently available on PS5 via backward compatibility.
