Final Fantasy VII Xbox One Release Date Announced

A critically-acclaimed, Japanese RPG classic is making a comeback. While the remake is a ways away from its official debut, Square Enix has announced the port of the original Final Fantasy VII to modern generation consoles. Initially revealed for the Nintendo Switch last month, the company finally reports that an Xbox One counterpart will hit the shelves as well and it’s launching later this month. Relive the feels of the loveable Aerith Gainsborough‘s story arc as Cloud, face off against the devilishly handsome Sephiroth, and save the planet from demise.

Available now for pre-orders on Nintendo Switch and Xbox One, fans old and new can experience the wonder of the 1997 title once again or for the first time ever. This time you can take the Final Fantasy VII adventure with you wherever you go, whether it’s during your daily commute to work, during down-time, or winding down from a long day at home. Heard of Final Fantasy VII, but don’t know what the game is all about? Here’s a refresher:

The world has fallen under the dominion of the Shinra Electric Power Company, a sinister corporation that has monopolized the planet’s very life force as Mako energy. In the urban megalopolis of Midgar, an anti-Shinra rebel group calling themselves Avalanche have stepped up their campaign of resistance.

Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra’s elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, lends his aid to the rebels, unaware that he will be drawn into an epic battle for the fate of the planet, while having to come to terms with his own lost past.”

The port for Xbox One and Nintendo Switch hosts a few new features including a 3-times speed mode, toggle battle encounters on or off, and a “battle enhancement mode.” Final Fantasy VII can be yours later this month for $15.99 (USD).
