Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 Has Entered Full Development

The lengthy wait for the Final Fantasy VII Remake was, in a word, grueling. Thankfully, it was recently revealed that the second part of the remake series won’t be significantly impacted by COVID-19. Though we still know next to nothing about the sequel, it has now been confirmed that Square Enix has entered into full development on Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2.

The news comes by way of the Ryokutya blog, which was later translated by Aitaikimochi on Twitter. The blog post details a 15-page interview from an upcoming issue of Famitsu, wherein it is confirmed by Square Enix that full development on Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 began in earnest following the release of the first game earlier this year.

The above Twitter user also pulled another interesting quote from the post wherein game director Tetsuya Nomura talks about the team’s plan for the second part’s release. “We know that everyone wants the next installment quickly,” the quote reads. “We would also like to deliver it as soon as possible. Since we were also able to see the line of quality from the first installment, we hope to make the next installment even better in quality that can make for an even better experience.”

We would to get it out as soon as possible, so please wait for it. I think we can clearly convey the direction when we officially announce the next installment.”

The post also goes into some interesting details regarding the first game, such as how Roche – who Cloud fights twice – was supposed to show up for a third battle towards the end of the game.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 is now in development.
