Final Fantasy NT Beta Dates Revealed – Jecht Announced as Playable Character (VIDEO)
Last month, Square Enix announced that it would be holding a closed beta for its long-anticipated Final Fantasy fighting game Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. Recently, the Japanese publisher revealed some additional details regarding the beta including its official date range. The Dissidia Final Fantasy NT beta will take placr between August 25 to September 3. Those looking to get an early glimpse of the upcoming PlayStation 4 game can register now over on the Square Enix website. Keep in mind that the cutoff point for registering is August 20 and registering does not guarantee access.
Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is actually the third game in the Dissidia series, which dates back to the PSP back in 2009. The first two titles had a heavier focus on story, while the latest in the series was initially released as a Japanese arcade game back in 2015. All three games feature an enormous roster containing some of the most iconic heroes and villains from the Final Fantasy Series, including fan favorites such as Cloud, Lightning, Sephiroth, and Kefka. Alongside the closed beta dates, Square Enix also announced that Final Fantasy 10 character Jecht will be appearing in the game as a playable character. Unfortunately, Jecht will not be one of the characters available to use during the closed beta. The gameplay trailer can be seen below as he, uh, whips his son into fighting shape:
The gameplay trailer features a one-on-one duel between Jecht and his son, Tidus. The battle between the two Blitzball stars on the beaches of Besaid is certainly a strange one especially since, up until now, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT has been marketed as a 3v3 fighting game. That said, it is possible that the battle took place in a practice arena of some kind. Hopefully the upcoming Dissidia Final Fantasy NT beta will help shed some light on the different modes players can partake in when the game finally launches early next year.
So, thoughts on Jecht being announced as a playable character? What other Final Fantasy series characters would you like to see make it into the game?
