Final Fantasy Artist Puts His Signature Spin On A Manga Cover For Harley Quinn #1
Harley Quinn fans have plenty to celebrate next year. Famed comic writer Stephanie Phillips is currently working on a 2-issue stint called Harley Quinn: Future State, which seems the femme fatale imprisoned by the Magistrate for his own dark purposes. Issue #1 is slated to release in January 2021, with the following issue releasing in February. If that’s not enough Harley Quinn for you, Phillips is also creating a brand new Harley Quinn comic series that just received a manga cover variant from legendary Final Fantasy artist Yoshitaka Amano.
Stephanie Phillips recently took to Twitter to unveil the manga variant cover for Harley Quinn #1, slated to release in stores March 24, 2021. The cover oozes with the Final Fantasy artist’s signature style, done up in watercolor with art nouveau influences. As one would expect, if you removed the DC elements it would look like one of Amano’s Final Fantasy character illustrations, albeit one of the more punkish ones. Check it out below:

As for the Harley Quinn comic itself, not much is currently known about it other than the fact that it features the titular DC character. What we do know is that it’s currently in development from Stephanie Phillips, Riley Rossmo, Ivan Plascencia, and Deron Bennett. More information on the comic is will be forthcoming on Stephanie Phillips’ website.
