Fortnite Character Theft Accusations Proven To Be Fake After Epic’s Response
Epic Games recently released the Taro and Nara skins in their massively popular Battle Royale title Fortnite, but immediately came under fire. This was because an artist by the name of Ruby Ramirez on DeviantArt claimed the studio had stolen their design for the Taro skin. Epic responded by telling Forbes, “We take these claims seriously and are in the process of investigating them.” However, the tale does not end here, as new evidence has come to light to prove that it was all a ruse by Ramirez.
Thanks to the sleuthing of Internet residents, it was discovered that the artist who was claiming Epic had stolen their design was lying the entire time. This came by way of a discovery made by Detective Ding Dong on Twitter (okay, those commenting added “Detective”), who did a little digging using Google cache. This led to them finding the original piece of art that was there before the Fortnite skin was released, which looks absolutely nothing like the Taro skin.

As can be seen in the image above, the top piece in the middle looks like the Taro skin, but that’s only because it was posted after Fortnite added it. The one on the bottom was the original piece that was there, and had the artist just kept it like that, they might not be coming under heavy scrutiny by the Internet. You can read more about the situation right here.
Of course, it’s incredibly wrong to plagiarize, and while it is easy to gang up on Epic Games because you don’t like Fortnite or for whatever reason, it’s always good to get to the bottom of things. Needless to say, don’t try to pull a fast one on a massive company, especially in this day and age with technology being what it is.
