Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance Physical Release Delayed

While Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance appears to be all set to release on the digital front, the physical side of things, unfortunately, won’t be able to mee the same fate. According to a new statement from Wizards of the Coast and Tuque Games, various “development delays” have effectively delayed physical boxed editions of the upcoming action RPG until July 13th, nearly a month after the intended launch. The digital release was mentioned as being unaffected and is still scheduled to take place on June 22nd.

“The teams at Wizards and Tuque are still hard at work creating an epic Dark Alliance game for everyone to enjoy,” the statement read. “But due to development delays, we need to move the physical boxed release date of the game to July 13, 2021. However, our digital release date for Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and Game Pass on Xbox and Windows remains unchanged and is still June 22, 2021. We thank the community for their support and we are excited to adventure in the Forgotten Realms with you all soon!”

While it’s certainly a bummer physical versions of Dark Alliance aren’t arriving until nearly a month after launch, most fans can still go digital if waiting isn’t an option. Of course, PC and console users will also be able to play the game on Xbox Game Pass on day one of release. However, this new delay may be of particular annoyance to those who opted for the game’s special Steelbook Edition, as it adds a bit more time before the collection’s pre-orders and various available goodies can be fulfilled.

Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance releases for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S on June 22nd.
