Dota 2 Introduces New Multi-Tiered Rank Medal System In Latest Seasons Update
In the latest update for Dota 2, the team introduces an all new multi-tiered Rank Medal system to ranked matchmaking for the next six-month long season. Players taking part can earn a medal that represents “their highest performance level” for that time period. Solo and party games are considered when calculating each person’s level and each one has 5 stars of progression. It’s not dissimilar to prestige or paragon levels in other games.
Furthermore, the weight of solo games are more significant when determining upgrades, and may help or hinder those looking to climb to the top. “Your performance in both Party and Solo games is considered when evaluating your skill and determining when your Medal gets upgraded, with Solo games having a bigger impact,” states Dota 2. “In order for players to achieve either the Ancient or Divine Medals, only Solo-game performance is considered.”
There are seven levels of progression: Herald, Guardian, Crusader, Archon, Legend, Ancient, and finally Divine as the highest. Each division progresses through a 5 star system before players can be promoted to the next tier. Once players reach a five-star Divine in Dota 2, they are entered into a number leaderboard system that features all others of similar skill level. All of this information will be available on the player profile as well. Luckily, for those who fear of losing their winning match streak, losses will not affect the account’s overall Medal Rank for the season.
