Dontnod’s Vampyr Emphasizes The Importance Of Choice, Features A Single Save Slot

From the same folks that created the whirlwind of a episodic adventure, Life is Strange, comes a brand new and much darker story to be told. Though this isn’t the first instance these topics have been referred to, but there are particular features in the upcoming Vampyr title that’s certainly raised a few concerns from anticipating fans. Moral dilemmas and difficult choices are a significant feature in the game’s story and to place emphasis on this, Dontnod’s Vampyr will feature a single save slot through its entirety.

Now, the first thought most will have would be: “What about bugs and corrupt files? Wouldn’t the possibility ruin a playthrough?” To be frank, that’s a completely valid concern to have, but it’s one Dontnod Entertainment is determined to minimize to the best of their ability. To reiterate their development choice, the game’s official Twitter responded to an inquiring gamer:

Knowing such events can occur, the developers are keen on maintaining their posture. To stick to the feature of a single save file despite the risk of crashes, bugs, and myriad of other possibilities that could ruin a playthrough? Well, that speaks volumes to Vampyr’s storyline and we can’t wait to see what secrets await discovery. As a gamer that tracks multiple saves before a difficult choice and plays through each one, this will definitely be a change in pace. In other words – be cautious… or go with instincts and make decisions based on that.
