DFTG Recaps Best Movie/TV Trailers Of The Week: January 29 (VIDEO)

DFTG Recaps Best Movie/TV Trailers Of The Week

A fresh batch of movies and TV trailers have debuted, and now’s the time that DFTG recaps the best the last week has had to offer. The thrilling city battles of Pacific Rim: Uprising, a life chronicle of Andre The Giant, and the extreme creepiness of Netflix’s The Ritual all await in the list of trailers below.

Andre The Giant

The towering wrestling superstar of Andre the Giant is set to be explored in a new HBO documentary titled Andre the Giant. The trailer assembles the likes of WWE’s Hulk Hogan, chairman Vince McMahon and fellow ‘Princess Bride’ actor Cary Elwes, recalling the larger than life experiences and heartbreaking struggles behind the man once nicknamed the “eighth wonder of the world.” Andre The Giant premieres on HBO this April 10th.

The Cured

The Cured is a somber change of pace, taking place in a world infected by zombies. What separates this outbreak from numerous other zombie stories is the discovery of a cure which transforms the undead back to life. Those given the cure remarkably revert back to their normal selves, but looming fear creates widespread discrimination against the former zombies. As evidenced by the chilling trailer, this violent push-back gets pretty nasty for everyone involved, the most stressed of all seeming to be star Ellen Page. The Cured has no release date as of yet.

Dundee

Okay, it should be stated from the get-go that Dundee is 100% fake. However, for a short time, the internet believed American actor Danny McBride was cast in a movie as Australian icon Crocodile Dundee, or his son, at least. Several videos have released and presented a completely plausible mixture of ridiculousness, with even Australian actor Chris Hemsworth lending his handsome comedic talents. Now it seems the jig is up.

The whole scheme was revealed to be nothing more than a Super Bowl marketing stunt by Australia’s tourism board, aiming to use the fake trailers to showcase beautiful landscapes from around the country. While some may celebrate that Dundee isn’t actually happening, there’s likely more than a few moviegoers that would’ve paid to witness such an absurd premise play out.

Pacific Rim: Uprising

The genre of giant kaiju movies has been in an uprising as of late, but so has an aptly named Pacific Rim sequel. The premise of the upcoming Pacific Rim: Uprising sees massive mechs assemble once more to defeat a new wave of city-sized monsters. The recently released second trailer gives a neat look at new protagonist Jake Pentecost (John Boyega) and his drive to live up to his late father’s legacy. And yes, there’s also new footage of some sweet robot-monster fights. Pacific Rim: Uprising will release in theaters on March 23.

The Ritual

Netflix is getting in on these DFTG recaps as well with a trailer for horror film The Ritual. The film follows four friends lost on a hike through the Scandinavian wilderness, but between the trees lives a dark and ancient force that is pretty unintererested in giving directions. The supernatural evil proceeds to torment and horrify the travellers with some even seeming to reach a colorfly gory end. For those willing to brave the watch, The Ritual will begin streaming on Netflix this February 9th.
