Demon's Souls Remake Character Creation, Photo Mode Details Revealed

It looks like the upcoming generation of consoles will finally give way to something I’ve personally been waiting for for a long time: proper, not-terrible-looking character customization in a Souls-like. With the release of the highly anticipated Demon’s Souls Remake less than a week away, Sony has unleashed a batch of Demon’s Souls Remake screenshots centered around the game’s character creator, and….the characters actually look pretty great!

SIE creative director Gavin Moore recently took to the PlayStation Blog to show off some Demon’s Souls Remake screenshots and speak about the game’s brand new Photo Mode. According to Moore, players will be able to customize their character’s appearance with up to 16 million permutations. “We’ve added many more customization options than you’ll remember from the PS3 game,” Moore said, “and also worked hard to ensure there is a satisfying variety possible for those who wish to tinker with every slider.”

Given how lovely the characters look, it only makes sense to Bluepoint Games to have implemented a full-blown Photo Mode. According to Moore, players can choose to hide or show weapons and helmets using the mode, though they can also go so far as to hide the entire character in order to get a better shot at the scenery. Players can also have their characters strike a pose or change their expression for more close-up shots, which will almost certainly be used to produce some hilarious screenshots further down the line.

The Demon’s Souls Remake’s Photo Mode will also give players access to various filters, which interestingly enough can all be used outside of Photo Mode to affect normal gameplay. This allows players to tweak contrast, brightness, and color levels, which should make for some interesting replay value depending on the imagination of the player.

Demon’s Souls Remake is slated to release on November 12 for the PlayStation 5.
