New Video From the Death Stranding Team Shows New Fog Tech With Eerie Realism (VIDEO)
It seems that Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding is getting a lot of attention in media lately as the days slowly tick by towards its unknown release date. To further the excitement for the title, a new video has cropped up online showing off the game’s fog tech capabilities in capturing the perfect atmosphere for this strange and surreal title.
Revealed by Guerrilla Games, the video shows off a brief transition in graphics, using a very familiar scene from the Mads Mikkelsen/Guillermo del Toro trailer to show off the tech that will be used to power the game’s imagery. Check out the brief video from the Death Stranding team below and see exactly how eerie and realistic this scenery is:
Death Stranding will be utilizing the Decima Engine, the same engine used by Guerilla Games. This tidbit of information was revealed by Kojima, Giliam de Carpentier (Principal Tech Programmer at Guerrilla Games), and programmer Kohei Ishiyama. Clearly, this bit of technical marvel adds quite a bit to the atmosphere of the game, as the addition of the fog certainly gives the scene a darker and more sinister touch.
While the transitions in the video aren’t shown in real-time, the Decima Engine is known for changing the surrounding atmosphere in such a way which can certainly make an impact on the game’s story by using “precomputed atmospheric scattering.” A small video to showcase what fans anticipating the debut title for Hideo Kojima’s company Kojima Productions have to look forward to: an eerily realistic experience that he promises is like none other.
