Cyberpunk 2077 Allows Players Flexible Playstyles
Cyberpunk 2077 looks like the next great RPG and an instant Game of the Year contender. Of course, a strength of the RPG genre is granting players freedom to shape the world as they see fit. In order to do so, CD Projekt Red plans on creating fluid and flexible classes to confront each problem. Don’t expect to stay true to a single method throughout your playthrough as different tasks may be easier to complete via different methods.
In an interview with GamingBolt, level designer Miles Tost discussed the possible playstyles players can adopt. Unlike a number of games, Cyberpunk 2077 will neither punish nor restrict players into specific problem solving methods.
“A big part of what lets players immerse themselves in our game is allowing them to play it the way they want to. This means providing them with options to navigate locations, solve or even bypass problems, etc. We never force players to adopt any particular playstyle and we certainly won’t do it in Cyberpunk 2077.”
Stealth, hacking, and brute strength are all likely to play a role in Cyberpunk 2077. With one of the biggest worlds in gaming, the title should afford players multiple opportunities to try out each method. CD Projekt Red’s last great game, The Witcher, lacked freedom of this level. Yes, players could build Geralt’s stats in a number of different ways. But for all his strengths, the White Wolf would have failed any stealth test. By giving players more options, the developer should attract a wider range of gamers. In fact, fans appear more excited for Cyberpunk 2077 than they were for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
CD Projekt Red has yet to announce a launch date for Cyberpunk 2077. However, rumors indicate that game should launch sometime in 2019. As soon as a release date becomes available, we will be sure to let you know.
