Co-Founder of Lionhead Studios Talks About Wanting Fable 4 and Upsetting Microsoft

Peter Molyneux co-founded Lionhead Studios in 1997 and was responsible for the Fable series which happens to be my favorite games of all time, just saying. Shortly after Lionhead Studios closed their doors, the Official Xbox Magazine interviewed him and he had quite a bit to say. The best part was when Peter starting talking about giving Microsoft a hard time.

“…with Fable, where we had prostitutes and same-sex marriage. Microsoft were appalled, you know, they were busily going around trying to rub all the nipples out of all the women just not to offend people, and things Mark Healey would put in – if you play Black & White you notice that all the totems are completely phallic, just penises everywhere. It’s that slightly guffaw, Finbarr Saunders type of joke.”

I can just picture little janitor type men in Microsoft jumpsuits grumpily wiping the nipples away with a dirty rag! The most important question asked though, was “Do you think this is the end for Fable?” His answer was exactly what we wanted to hear.

“It’s crazy that Fable IV isn’t being made. I would love to do Fable IV, and the studio tried to do it. You’d have to get the original team back together though.”

Fable 4 coming into existence would be like Christmas morning for us! Earlier this month, a mobile game he has been working on was released for iOS called The Trail. In this game, you walk through beautiful landscapes on a (shocker) trail. You use your thumb to swipe and drag to move and travel to the new world where you learn to craft and trade in order to make a fortune. You can even join a town and work with them to become the best and unlock more features.

Although there is no new mentions of trying to bring Fable back to life, we can still hope that someday he can make our dreams come true even if there’s no more Lionhead Studios.
