The Nintendo Classic Mini Super Famicom Announced for Japan

The Nintendo Classic Mini Super Famicom was announced for Japan alongside the Western unveiling for the Super NES Classic edition. Similar to the latter, the miniature console will have 21 games including the never-before released Star Fox 2. Other than that, there are quite a few differences in video game selection for the Japanese version such as Final Fantasy VI, Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers, The Legend of the Mystical Ninja, Super Soccer, and more. There will also be a separate release of an AC Adapter that will run Japanese residents approximately 1,000 JPY. For more information on the titles available, check out the list below:

In the gallery, which can be viewed above, are a few of the games that will be exclusive to the Mini Super Famicom. The console will launch on October 5th, 2017 for 7,980 yen MSRP. The cover designs for the games may bring back memories for some. Other than that, there is supposedly better news for those outside of Japan. According to a Nintendo press statement, there is going to be “significantly more” units available for purchase this time around. However, the only catch is that the retro mini console will still only be available for retail sale for a limited time between its launch on September 29th and the end of 2017.
