Chrono Cross Is Finally Getting A Remaster (VIDEO)

The author has several PS1-era games he’d like to see remade or remastered, and, while Chrono Cross may not be particularly high up on that list, confirmation that a remaster for the game is releasing later this year is still pleasing to hear. Nintendo made the announcement during the latest Nintendo Direct, revealing that the remaster will be dubbed THE RADICAL DREAMERS EDITION. Yes, the official title is in all caps, but I’ll spare you the excitement in the following paragraphs.

As noted by Nintendo, Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition (you’re welcome) is actually comprised of two notably different parts. The first is the remaster of Chrono Cross, while the second is Radical Dreamers – Le Trésor Interdit -. For those unaware, the latter title was originally released as a Satellaview game and served as what was essentially a precursor to Chrono Cross as we know it. The game is now being re-introduced in an audio novel format.

As for the Chrono Cross remaster, fans can look forward to plenty of TLC for the storied Squaresoft title. New features include HD 3D models, higher quality background music (which may cause some concern), the ability to switch enemy encounters on or off, and more. Here’s the full list of new features:

・3D models converted to HD
・Refined character illustrations
・Higher-quality background music
・Switch enemy encounters on or off
・Background filter feature
・Battle enhancement features to make combat easier
・Auto-battle function
・Switch between imitation pixel font and HD font
・Change screen resolution

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is slated to release on April 7 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
