Bungie Plans On Revealing Brand New Franchises By 2025

Bungie

Bungie announced their plans to step away from Destiny and bring fans brand new franchises by 2025. Last year, when NetEase invested $100 million in their company, Bungie confirmed they would use it to go in “new directions” and build new worlds.

With the release of Destiny 2: Shadowkeep today, the community is still going strong. So far, details remain scarce in terms of what the team might be cooking up, but they don’t plan on stopping at just one property beyond their hit series. “So, by 2025 we have a pretty specific path to make sure we transform Destiny and that we have other franchises within the marketplace,” Bungie CEO Pete Persons told IGN.

Beyond the properties they’re currently known for, Bungie plans on becoming a multi-franchise entertainment company as well. To accomplish such a feat, they plan on “transforming” what they have now. “One, is we need to begin transforming Destiny. The Destiny that we really believe in, like, the thing we think Destiny needs to become,” Parsons revealed. “I think you’ve seen it in the vid doc, like, the single evolving world, we needed to focus on that.”

If Halo and Destiny can speak for what’s to come, fans can probably expect a science-fiction story with endless lore for their campaigns and a kick-ass multiplayer. Perhaps a fantasy-based game is on the horizon? Obviously, no one but the good people at Bungie has any clue just yet, but I personally look forward to seeing what they’ve got up their sleeve.
