Borderlands 2 Jumps Back Into Steam’s Top 5 Most Played Games
Borderlands 3 has officially been revealed and given a release date, but until the highly-anticipated title arrives, players will likely be returning to previous entries, especially since they’ve all received some hefty graphical upgrades. That said, this is certainly true for Borderlands 2, which has jumped back into Steam’s top 5 most played games nearly seven years after being released.
While a lot of the attention being directed at the Borderlands franchise is revolving around the decision to make the upcoming game an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC for six months, this definitely hasn’t slowed players down from jumping back onto Pandora in the epic sequel from 2012. Of course, the game has been in Steam’s top 50 most played games since launch, but the recent hype from Borderlands 3 has led the title to hit nearly 60,000 concurrent players in nearly five years.
As can be seen in the graph above from SteamDB, even just the couple months that led up to the surge was only averaging about 10,000 concurrent players. However, with hype from Borderlands 3 combined with the updated textures, a free weekend, and a sale, it led to Borderlands 2 seeing a top 5 spot on Steam. Needless to say, fans are excited for the return of the exceptional looter shooter.
When it comes to what’s next, Borderlands 3 will be arriving on September 13th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
