Ben Affleck’s Batman Role in Doubt – Plans to Transition Toward Different Actor Say Sources [UPDATED]

Ben Affleck's Batman

[UPDATED] Ben Affleck has put the rumors to rest during a panel at SDCC, saying “Let me be very clear, I am the luckiest guy in the world. Batman is the coolest fucking part in any universe. I am so thrilled to do it. With Matt Reeves doing it, I would be an ape on the ground for Matt Reeves, nevermind being Batman. It’s incredible.”

The original story is as follows:

Ben Affleck is at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend promoting the coming Justice League movie. However, sources say that his days of wearing the cape and cowl may be numbered. It could be possible that the November 17th release of Justice League will be the last time fans see Affleck’s Batman in action.

Warner Brother’s Studios has said that his role is one they want to keep as long as possible and director Matt Reeves has even said he intends to keep Affleck on board, further solidifying that he’s in for the long run. However, a source has reported that the company is planning to usher him out, gracefully, and will be addressing the shift in an upcoming film.

Ben Affleck's Batman

With the actor backing out of directing “The Batman” and director Reeves nixing the actor’s script written in tandem with Geoff Johns of D.C. Entertainment, it may be that Ben Affleck’s Batman has already seen some milestones to his easing out of the role. While this remains speculative, there are signs that point to this. With the actor leaving other projects as well, it could be that the actor himself is taking a step back all together.

Some also question the actor’s age, putting him well toward his fifties at the end of a possible trilogy. While it’s not far fetched to see an older Wayne, if he does step down one has to wonder how D.C. will handle the story. Whether we get Azrael, Grayson, or another alternate story line remains to be seen and it can be hard to figure out just how D.C. and Warner Bros will handle things if they move away from Affleck’s Batman.

How does this version of Batman measure up to others? Is his potential leaving a bad move or a blessing in disguise? Join in on the conversation in the comment section below! Don’t forget to follow DFTG on Twitter for live gaming and entertainment news 24/7!
