Bandai Namco has officially announced God Eater 3, bringing with the announcement a one and a half minute teaser trailer showing off a bit of the title’s gameplay. The publisher has not yet announced which consoles the game is coming to, nor has it revealed the release date. Technically the sixth entry in the action-rpg series, the latest entry in the series – God Eater Resurrection – was a remake of God Eater Burst, which itself was a remake of the original God Eater. It was released in October 2015 for PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4. Roughly a year later it was released on PC via Steam. Check out the teaser trailer for God Eater 3 below:

Though the God Eater 3 teaser trailer doesn’t reveal much, it should excite fans that have been waiting for the series’ next numbered title since the release of God Eater 2 back in 2013.  The team behind the God Eater series also just so happens to be the team behind Code Vein, the Bandai Namco souls-like with an anime vampire spin.  That said, the timing on the announcement of God Eater 3 makes a great deal of sense, since Code Vein appears to be more or less ready to release next year. Earth no longer resembles the home we know of now. The Aragami, terrifying beasts that live only to consume, are carving a path of destruction and misery wherever they are encountered. To combat this threat an elite group of heroes known as God Eaters are called upon to save humanity. God Eaters are individuals who have been bestowed upon them the ability to wield powerful new God Arcs, special weapons powered by Oracle Cells and the only known weapons capable of destroying the monstrous Aragami. However, another mission is coming into focus; something is happening to the God Eaters and the line between light and dark has never been so thin. It’s time to start breaking free from the cursed shackles that bind the souls of the God Eaters as the battle rages on around them.
