Behaviour Interactive’s 4 vs 1 survival horror game, Dead by Daylight (DbD) has an impressive roster of Killers for players to choose from. As well as original characters, DbD’s lineup of psychopaths also includes some of the most iconic characters in horror cinema; Halloween’s Michael Myers and Texas Chainsaw Massacre’s Leatherface have already been featured in the game. Jason Vorhees got his very own game in Friday the 13th, so it is highly unlikely that he’ll make his way to the roster, so that leaves the last of the Four Horseman of Horror – Nightmare on Elm Street’s Freddy Krueger.

Thanks to the tireless work of data-miners, it appears that the nightmarish, clawed-glove wearing killer known as Freddy Krueger may be making his way to Dead by Daylight in the near future. The information has been shared all over the game’s Steam forum, but has caused some debate as to whether or not the information pertains to Krueger. As with previous DLC characters the latest has a codename: Sandman. Data-miners posted a topic in the forums titled “Next Killer: the Sandman aka Freddy Krueger LEAKED Sound Files Extracted the sound Files from the Game.” The poster uncovered the following information:

• Killer: Sandman
• Weapon: ClawedGlove
• Ability: Dreammaster
• Survivor: Kate Denson

Along with the information provided above, a video was posted to YouTube that serves as a compilation of sound clips pertaining to the character. The sound clip is that of a child humming the “1,2 Buckle My Shoe” tune, which as many Freddy fans are aware, is also the terrifying tune to the children’s song about the killer that is sung, “1, 2 Freddy’s coming for you. 3, 4 better lock the door. 5, 6 grab a crucifix. 7, 8 gonna stay up late. 9, 10 never sleep again.” You can check out the video of the sound clip compilation below:

The clues most definitely point to Freddy Krueger, though until Behaviour Interactive confirms this, it should be taken with a grain of salt…or sand. If an announcement is coming it should be rather soon, as Halloween is just around the corner. This would be quite the treat for Dead by Daylight players.
