Baldur's Gate 3 Is Being Teased By The Makers Of Divinity: Original Sin 2

It has been an incredibly long time since the original Baldur’s Gate trilogy ended: 18 years, in fact. Now, after all this time, it appears that a Baldur’s Gate 3 may be in the works from Larian Studios, the folks behind Divinity: Original Sin 2. Just this morning, the developer posted the above picture (with that lovely III) on the company’s website, making us think that a sequel to Divinity was on its way. While that may be the case, this isn’t what they were teasing.

According to Twitter user @kunkken as reported by Kotaku, the teaser at the top of the page is in fact for Baldur’s Gate 3. The discovery was made when the Twitter user did some HTML snooping, which Kotaku was able to confirm. As such, it appears that Baldur’s Gate 3 is in fact on the way, officially licensed from Dungeons & Dragons makers Wizards of the Coast.

This is by no means where the story ends, either, as just recently the folks over at Wizards of the Coast started taking pre-orders for a new D&D adventure titled Descent Into Avernus, which – you guessed it – is related to Baldur’s Gate. Whether or not this is precisely related to the new Baldur’s Gate game is still unknown. It’s possible that there’s just some generic world building going on, though it is also possible that some of the content in Descent Into Avernus will feature in the new game.

For now, we’ll just have to wait and see, but at least we know that a Baldur’s Gate 3 is in fact on the way.
