Baldur’s Gate 3 Character Creation Details Revealed
As Baldur’s Gate 3 nearly approaches its early access launch, Larian Studios continues to share updates on the features and offerings players get to dive into. Not only will Baldur’s Gate 3 offer “plenty of sex and romance,” there are a wide variety of options when it comes to customizing your own character.
In Larian’s latest community update, the developers highlight the range of choices of “photorealistic fantasy races” with approximately 150 unique heads to choose from. That’s across 16 races and subraces too. Check out a few examples below:
“Our character creation features photorealistic fantasy races, based on 3D scans of actors and models (blemishes and all), selected because their features roughly resembled the direction for each race in the game, as well of course for diversity and variety in the human-like races,” Larian detailed in their blog. “Our team spent much of pre-production carefully selecting, scanning, and moulding these scans, to become the base heads for character creation. Launched into Early Access is a total of 150 heads to pick from, across the 16 races & subcraces.”
In addition to outward appearances, players can customize a variety of other character features as well. Choose your race, subrace, origin, skills, abilities, background, and class. In its early access stage, however, players can only choose between 8 races and sub-races (as seen below):
