Attack on Titan Season 3 “Tentatively” Scheduled for a Spring Premiere Next Year

To celebrate the end of season 2 last month and the timely disclosure of a confirmed season 3, Toonami had a special airing of Attack on Titan last night and it was a glorious back-to-back marathon of the entire second season. It was rather tough timing since the episodes ran from 11:00PM to 3:30AM. In even better news, Funimation announced during Anime Expo that Attack on Titan season 3 is scheduled for a Spring 2018 premiere. For now, it’s a tentative time frame.

Neither Wit Studios or Production IG have not commented further on the subject. Unless you’ve taken it upon yourself to read the manga, the ending of season 2 was seat-gripping. Without divulging anything specific, Eren discovers a newfound ability during the midst of danger and the looming fate of death as the scouts faced off against the armored Titan. Furthermore, Hange makes an unfortunate, but eye-opening discovery about Titans and what that could mean.

Among a slew of Funimation announcements during the convention: Genocidal Organ will premiere in select theaters on July 12th and 13th, a new movie Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution is being developed, and Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry will see a theatrical release this Summer. An official date was not given for the latter two. Additionally, DVDs will be hitting the shelves for animated series and films such as Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, Speed Racer, D.Gray-Man, and Your Name.

If you’ve finished season 2, what did you think of the ending? Are you already anticipating the premiere of Attack on Titan season 3?
