With Assassin’s Creed Odyssey being a major hit with fans, it’s hard not to wonder what the next game in the series plans to bring. While there haven’t been any major official announcements concerning the next iteration in the series, there have been plenty of rumors indicating that Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok may be taking players to the Nordic lands of the Vikings. A new leak has now arrived and while it doesn’t coincide with previous claims, it does continue to lean into the idea that fans are headed into Viking territory.

The new information comes from a recent Tweet from YouTuber j0nathan (via Prima Games), who is now claiming that every previous leak regarding Ragnarok has been false. The leak suggests that the game will still be centered around Norse culture and mythology, but will not actually be called “Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok.” He also explains that the game will feature two playable characters to choose from, a male and a female similar to that of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

J0nathan mentions the return of the Secret Blade featured in previous games as well as the presence of a shield similar to ‘Origins.’ As for the setting, The new Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok is said to once again follow the RPG genre, with players exploring more supernatural content left behind by the First Civilization. It’s also suggested that the game will be much bigger than the Vikings as it will include locations other than Scandinavia.

With all this in mind, it’s worth taking the information with a grain of salt, as there’s been no confirmation of any rumors to date from the developers. This may be especially true as leaks shared from this particular source haven’t always panned out. If a reveal is actually supposed to happen this year, Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok will likely follow a similar suit to past titles and will be available for PC as well as Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and next-gen consoles.
