Assassin’s Creed III Creative Director Shares Edits For Upcoming Remaster
Just recently, Ubisoft confirmed that Assassin’s Creed III – featuring protagonist Connor Kenway – is getting a long-awaited remaster, with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey owners getting the title for free as part of the game’s Season Pass benefits. Now, with the upcoming remaster on everybody’s minds, Assassin’s Creed III’s creative director Alex Hutchinson has weighed in on what would help the remaster surpass the original.
If I could offer a few edits I would perform if I had my hands on that AC3 remaster:

It should be noted that Hutchinson no longer works for Ubisoft, though as the creative director of the original game he is uniquely capable of offering sound suggestions for the team bringing the remaster to the masses. Here are some of Hutchinson’s more impactful suggestions for the Assassin’s Creed III Remaster:
1. Take the damage volumes off the fires in the final mission so people don’t fail it and finish the sequence with a bad taste. It’s too hard for no real reason.

3. Create a path to force more of the Homestead side missions earlier: They feature the charming, fun and more human version of version of Connor that is not as obvious if you only play the main missions and ignore the side content.

6. Highlight that it’s the AC game with by far the most assassination moves: you can get a custom assassination with every weapon in the game, including all pick ups. https://t.co/Sn75dECKcY

11. I’m adding this one to agree with @GameAnim we should have broken up Haytham’s intro into chunks and interspersed them throughout the game to get to Connor faster. The shock reveal of another playable character was great, but the start was too slow.

From the writer’s point of view, the last suggestion hits closest to home. The potential for a massive emotional payoff thanks to a back and forth story transition between father and son can absolutely not be understated, especially given how easy it would be to transition from Haytham and Kaniehtí:io in the cave at the end of the lengthy prologue directly to the point where Connor discovers that his village has been attacked. Here’s hoping Ubisoft will implement at least some of the changes provided by Hutchison for the upcoming remaster. Alex Hutchinson is now the creative director and co-founder of Typhoon Studios. His entire thread of suggestions can be found right here.
Assassin’s Creed III Remaster releases in March 2019.
