New Anthem Update Now Live, Cataclysm Reveal Coming Tomorrow

Earlier this month, BioWare released a statement regarding Anthem, announcing that the developer was still “100% committed” despite recent internal studio changes. Unfortunately, that announcement hasn’t done much for the dev’s commitment to open communication, as it has been a few weeks since any progress was publicly made with the game. Now, BioWare has finally (finally!) broken its silence on the status of Anthem, announcing a new “under the hood” update that is now live on all platforms.

BioWare released the full patch notes for Anthem update 1.2.0 over on the EA website, revealing that the majority of said update involves numerous bug fixes across many facets of the game. Additionally, some changes have been made to the game’s Javelins, with other updates affecting Freeplay and various mission types.

In addition to the major update, BioWare also spoke a bit about the future of Anthem over on the EA Forums. Per a community manager, more information on the game’s first major post-launch update, Cataclysm, is coming soon. The message further states that the dev team has been taking its time with the update to ensure its overall quality is above player expectations. “Rather than rush it out the door, we want to take time and get feedback from you and make changes based on what we hear,” the message reads.

In order to do that we are releasing a Public Test Server (PTS) on PC, which will allow you to see the content as it is being developed and gives you the ability to provide feedback. While this won’t immediately solve all of the current issues, we want to continue to hear from you as we make improvements to Anthem – and the PTS is a great way to do that.”

At the end of the message, a note states that the first footage for Cataclysm will be revealed tomorrow at 3PM CST through both Twitch and Mixer. Here’s hoping Cataclysm will be enticing enough to bring back the bulk of the game’s player base.

Anthem is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
