Animal Crossing New Horizons Wedding Created By Couple After Coronavirus Cancels IRL Event
As the coronavirus pandemic continues on, numerous accounts of major event changes and cancellations have been a major theme throughout the past few weeks, and continues to be so as the situation develops. Big gaming events scheduled for the next few months like GDC 2020 and E3 2020 have been postponed or cancelled, and now even all GameStop stores are closed to the public. Given all of this, new game releases like Animal Crossing: New Horizons have provided some much needed escapism at this troubling time, and now it has allowed one couple to host an Animal Crossing: New Horizons wedding in-game after their real life wedding was cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
As reported on Prima Games, 9Gag user Ashmush recently shared their delightful Animal Crossing New Horizons wedding story. It seems that Ashmush’s real life wedding plans were dashed after COVID-19 made it unsafe to proceed with the planned event. Thinking quickly and knowing Ashmush’s fondness for Animal Crossing, her fiancé swiftly put together a surprise wedding in Animal Crossing that the couple could participate in, with their fellow AC player friends present in-game. As she states:
My fiancé planned it out with our best friends, Im graduating from med school and not getting a graduation and our wedding was cancelled. I was feeling pretty down about missing out on my milestones.”
Ashmush’s fiancé created a beach-side wedding aisle, with the couple’s initials custom placed on a design on the aisle. The couple then shared their vows on the nighttime beach in front of five of their loved ones. Many comments have expressed their emotional responses to this loving gesture. Given the real-life state of things now, maybe Animal Crossing will be the perfect fruit that helps humanity in these hectic times.
