Mass Effect: Andromeda and European Space Agency Combine Forces for New Series (VIDEO)
The countdown to launch continues on for Mass Effect: Andromeda. As it stands, EA/Origin Access members have three days until they get their hands on the 10-hour free trial, while everyone has eight days until the release of the full game. EU players will have to wait an additional two days. Speaking of Europe, BioWare has brought their beloved space RPG together with the European Space Agency(ESA) for a new video series that explores “how space science becomes reality.”
In a video that was posted to the Mass Effect YouTube channel, we receive a deeper look into what being the Pathfinder will entail. With the help from European astronaut Luca Parmitano, the ESA helps us understand how our very own astronauts are the explorers of today, and that “their mindset and experience are a psychological blueprint for the Pathfinder in Mass Effect.” Even Luca goes on to say:
I think humans are explorers at heart. It’s in our DNA. It’s that desire when we see something, we don’t know to… explore it until we find the answer. And we’re going to need more places in the universe to expand to guarantee our survival.”
Parmitano speaks of a time when his spacesuit had “irreversible mechanical failure” during an expedition. While he is telling us about his helmet filling with water, we are seeing a scene from Mass Effect: Andromeda that shows our Pathfinder falling out of a spacecraft and not sticking the landing. As they lay there with a busted helmet, they are able to use an omni-tool that repairs the cracked visor. It is a great visual aid as Luca mentions,”There is no use in concentrating on the problem, but it’s rather more important to think about the solution.” You can check out the informative video below:
This is the first video in the series by Mass Effect and the European Space Agency, and it’s unclear how many there will be. However, if they are as neat and full of Mass Effect goodness as this one was, they can most certainly keep them coming.
What say you, explorers? Did you enjoy the video with the information provided by Luca and the European Space Agency?
