Abandoned PS5 Game Reveal Delayed, But Conspiracy Theories Continue
The video game industry has introduced many popular figures to the community, but perhaps none loom as large or as eccentric as Hideo Kojima. The esteemed Metal Gear Solid creator has been well known to hype up his games like Death Stranding in bizarre and esoteric ways. Recently, a new game named Abandoned attracted the attention of gamers, with fans arguing the reveal of subtle hints that it may-or-may-not have Kojima involved with its development. The Abandoned PS5 game was due to have a reveal app released around this time, but has now been confirmed to be delayed, just as the conspiracy theories regarding Kojima’s involvement gain traction.

As reported by Game Informer, the director of the Abandoned PS5 game provided an update on the situation on his official Twitter account. The director of Blue Box Game Studios, Hasan Kahraman, apologized for the delay of the PS5 reveal app, citing localization issues, bugs and general stress facing the team in recent weeks. The app is now going to release in August, alongside a trailer that will help showcase the game’s survival horror world.
Though nothing has been confirmed otherwise, this video only further fueled the flames of rumors regarding Kojima’s potential involvement with the game. Over the past few weeks, theories have emerged that Hasan may be a paid actor only posing as the game’s director, while others have formulated their own interpreted hints, such as the studio’s name Blue Box, as a reference to the game’s release on Sony consoles, which would come in a blue PS4 or PS5 box. However, Hasan has time-and-again informed fans that nothing is going on, to little avail.
We wanted to set things straight. We have no relations with Konami. Silent Hill is owned by Konami. We do not have any relations with Hideo Kojima. It was never our intention to tease the name as Silent Hill. We sincerely apologize for this.

Given the game’s strong similarity to the Silent Hill series as well as Kojima’s own P.T. demo, it makes sense that so many would want this to be the secret resurgence of Metal Gear creator’s discarded work on Silent Hills. If this is indeed a non-Kojima game, hopefully, this does not cast over-hyped expectations onto the game. That would truly mean Death for the game, Stranding it to ridicule for the rest of gaming history.
