Yearly Legend Of Zelda Releases Are Reportedly Being Considered By Nintendo

Legend of Zelda

The rumor mill has been churning out some interesting theories as of late, some of which are in regards to the beloved Legend of Zelda franchise. Some believe a Skyward Sword port is inbound for the Nintendo Switch, and others are thinking we’ll be seeing something announced at The Game Awards in a few days.

That said, recent reports are saying that we’ll be seeing a new entry in the series “sooner than we think.” In addition to that, it’s being said that Nintendo is aiming to have a yearly release schedule for Legend of Zelda. Breath of the Wild arrived in 2017, while the port of Hyrule Warriors arrived earlier this year. Of course, each year probably won’t see a full-fledged installment, but spin-offs and ports will likely fill the gaps.

According to one Eurogamer editor’s understanding, “Nintendo is keen to have a Zelda game launch on Switch every year.” 2019 might be a little soon for a proper sequel to Breath of the Wild, but there is quite the extensive backlog of titles in the series that Nintendo could be eyeing to port to the Switch.

Big N may have already shot down the rumors that Skyward Sword was coming to the Nintendo Switch, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t working on ports of The Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD, or even fan-favorites like Majora’s Mask or Ocarina of Time. Whatever they have going on behind the scenes is surely exciting, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for fans.

If Nintendo intends on revealing their Legend of Zelda plans at The Game Awards, the event will be taking place on Thursday, December 6th. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
