Fortnite Summer Skirmish Grinds To Halt After Intense Lag (VIDEO)
Epic Games pulled the plug on their Fortnite Summer Skirmish duos tournament this weekend after four matches proved too laggy to play or enjoy. The tournament was intended to give players a chance to win prizes but fell short of those intentions when cited server performance issues occurred. Epic plans to return with new formats once they’ve fixed the problem.
According to players, the lag on Fortnite was so bad that many were killed before they were able to move their characters in the game. Prizes were to be awarded to those who achieved most kills in a single match, meant as an incentive to get players into the action, however many took to camping due to the server issues. This lead to a slow paced game that wasn’t exciting for viewers and not much for enjoyment to players. Here is a clip one player shared on Twitter that sums up the frustration they felt:

The Fortnite Summer Skirmish series is meant to run for 8 weeks, however, if their servers continue to have issues, it could be a complete bust. Epic had intended on 10 matches, awarding $50,000 to the first team to get two Victory Royales. The decision to cut the tournament short has left that prize as of yet unclaimed.
