Netflix’s Castlevania anime series surprised its viewers with its well-made, true to the source material first season. Unfortunately the ‘season’ was only four half-hour episodes long, and it ended on a note that had fans clamoring for more. Given the series’ critically acclaimed reception, Netflix decided to renew the series, with an original season 2 release date of this Summer. Unfortunately we haven’t heard much else about the next season, and with Summer now upon us, fans have begun to wonder when it is coming. Thankfully we needn’t wonder any longer, as Netflix has finally announced an official for Castlevania season 2.

The news comes by way of a tweet from an off-shoot of the Netflix Twitter account, which contained both the official release date – October 26th – and a first look at two images from season 2. Additionally, it was also revealed when the series was renewed that season 2 would feature eight full episodes.  Check out the first look below:

Written by best-selling author Warren Ellis, Castlevania follow the iconic story featuring Trevor Belmont (voiced by Richard Armitage, from The Hobbit series) as he attempts to stop Dracula Tepe (Graham McTavish, also from The Hobbit, Outlander) from destroying Eastern Europe. The last part of Castlevania season 1 ended on a truly exciting note for the series, so fans can expect plenty of action when season 2 debuts on Netflix on October 26th, 2018. For those looking forward to the future of the series, Richard Armitage recently confirmed that work had already begun on Castlevania season 3.
