Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 “Black Ops Pass” Will Not Be Sold Separately
Activision‘s new method of delivering post-launch content has received mixed reviews from the community. As revealed by their support page, there’s quite a few ways around that, but fans aren’t exactly happy about it. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will feature the “Black Ops Pass” and unfortunately, there are only a couple ways of getting your hands on it – pre-ordering or purchasing the Digital Deluxe, Digital Deluxe Enhanced, or Pro editions of the upcoming game.
That means those who have already pre-ordered the base game, that means there won’t be any luck in purchasing the pass once it releases. However, Activision has a few recommended way to get around it. If purchased at a third-party retailer, folks can return to the store and request an upgraded version. If purchased digitally, the three platforms have different methods. Here’s what Activision stated:
- PlayStation 4 North America: If you have an existing pre-order for the base version, you can upgrade your pre-order to the Digital Deluxe or Digital Deluxe Enhanced edition through the PSN Store to receive the Black Ops Pass.
- PlayStation 4 Europe and Xbox One: If you have an existing pre-order for the base version, you can purchase a separate upgrade to your base version to receive the Black Ops Pass.
- PC: If you have an existing pre-order for the base version, you can upgrade to the Digital Deluxe or Digital Deluxe Enhanced edition through Battle.net to receive the Black Ops Pass.
Upgrading Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 after release is an option as well and players can head to their respective platform client to do so, which is nearly identical to the directions above. Just head to the digital store on your console (Xbox store, PSN store) or PC (Battle.net). As of now, Activision and Treyarch maintain that the Black Ops Pass can only be acquired by purchasing it as a bundle.
The silver lining? The pass comes with all planned downloadable content for Black Ops 4 including Classified, four additional zombie experiences, 12 multiplayer maps, and four exclusive Blackout characters. So there’s no need for forethought in choosing what you want to get – it’s all packaged together.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 releases on October 12th, 2018. Who knows, if the community provides enough reason and feedback, this may change.
