A Way Out made its Game Awards 2017 debut tonight in a brand new trailer featuring audio commentary by writer and director Josef Fares. The Hazelight Studios title features story-based co-op seamlessly blended in with cinematic gameplay, in a story that seems like a blend between the Prison Break TV series and Kane & Lynch. One surprising twist that Josef Fares revealed during the trailer is the fact that those looking to play A Way Out with a friend only needs to purchase a single copy of the title, and simply invite said friend to join in on the fun. Check out the new A Way Out trailer below:

A Way Out is a cinematic story-driven co-op game where you and a friend control Vincent and Leo. Together – whether on a couch or online-  you’ll get to know these characters. Leo is brash, cocky, and quick to use force, while Vincent is calm, cool, and in control. Vincent and Leo’s personalities are reflected in the way they interact with their surroundings. A Way Out’s linear story will take you and a friend through a cinematic experience unlike any co-op game. Through the story you’ll find yourselves working together to survive, reconnecting with loved ones, or high-stakes moments like robbing a gas station. And yeah, one more thing. Because A Way Out is a co-op experience only, if you want to play it online with a friend, you don’t have to buy two copies. You only buy one copy and you invite your friend to play it with you for free, I mean the entire game for free.”
