With TV and film being increasingly eager to adapt classic franchises for the big and small screens in the hopes of appealing to the nostalgia of maturing generations, video games have seen more and more adaptations hit the big and small screens lately. The Uncharted film project has been moving along and recently news about a Super Mario film by the makers of the Despicable Me series hit headlines. Now, the first official Rampage movie trailer has released, which gives the first look at the live-action creation of the Midway Games arcade classic.

Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first Rampage movie trailer on their official YouTube channel. The film stars Dwayne Johnson as Davis Okoye, a Primatologist who seems to enjoy the company of apes more than he does other humans. He especially shares a close bond with George, a smart albino silverback gorilla, who accidentally comes into contact with a mysterious experiment that causes gradual mutation, particularly in the area of physical growth.

Soon George grows into a towering size, just as Davis discovers that other animals have been mutating into giants also. In order to save his primate friend, Davis teams up with a genetic engineer played by Moonlight‘s Naomi Harris to return these creatures to their normal size. The film also stars Malin Akerman as Claire Wyden, who introduces the growth serum to the animals, Joe Manganiello as Burke, the owner of a private military outfit and The Walking Dead‘s Jeffrey Dean Morgan as a government agent who tracks the creatures. The film is set to be released on April 20, 2018.
