Sony Offering Free PlayStation Plus Extensions For Those Affected By Natural Disasters
The United States was hit hard this year by two hurricanes leaving many people without power, or worse. Reports coming from Texas, Florida, and even from Puerto Rico indicate Sony is trying to help by extending PlayStation Plus subscriptions to those affected. A small gesture to be sure, but a delightful and welcomed one nonetheless.
Players took to reddit sharing messages they’d received from Sony stating they would be given a 1- month extension to their accounts for free. This is only an extension to those that already had a subscription. It’s hard to pinpoint how PlayStation is deciding who receives an extension and some players completely unaffected by the recent disasters are receiving them. Players that have yet to receive an email from Sony will need to be patient, with any luck they’ll find one in their inbox soon.
This isn’t the first time Sony has gone out of their way to help those affected by natural disasters. In October of this year, the company announced a special theme for the PlayStation 4 which gave players a chance to donate money to hurricane victims. Players payed whatever dollar amount they could and receive a small token of thanks in return.
