Naughty Dog Remaster of Jak and Daxter Coming Sometime in 2017 (VIDEO)

Naughty Dog is on a roll. With the remastered Crash Bandicoot, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy DLC, and The Last of Us 2 in the works – it’s a wonder the company has time for any other projects at all. But fans rejoice, one more Naughty Dog remaster will be making its way to the PlayStation 4. Back in the days of the PlayStation 2, Naughty Dog developed an amazing action platformer trilogy called Jak and Daxter. The series will be seeing a 1080p “up-rendering”, as Sony calls it, slated for release sometime this year.

The Jak and Daxter series follows Jak and friend turned Ottsel, Daxter, on adventure throughout a fictional land. While Jak and Daxter played upon a more whimsical tone, the second and third games became darker and geared towards a more mature audience, all the while still maintaining the series’ lore. Developed for the PlayStation 2, the trilogy was remastered for the PlayStation 3 and now once more for the PlayStation 4.

The titles returning in the remaster are the trilogy of Jak and Daxter, Jak II, and Jak III. Also making its way into the remaster is Jak X: Combat Racing, which utilizes the vehicle driving mechanics of Jak 3 in a story based racer with combat featuring red and yellow eco for attack and defense during each race.

Fans will see familiar features currently on the PlayStation implemented into the games such as Shareplay, trophies, activity feeds, and Remote Play. Unfortunately, while in the video it is mentioned that the Naughty Dog remaster would be coming in 2017, there is no set release date or price. There are no plans in the works for a new Jak and Daxter game but what could that look like if there was?
