Shovel Knight DLC ‘Specter of Torment’ Eyeing March Release

As we learned a couple months ago, Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games‏ is planning to release a brand new DLC titled “Specter of Torment”. The standalone adventure featuring the ghostly character of Specter Knight marks the third campaign and playable character made available for the game. As revealed on Yacht Club’s official Twitter, the free update is looking to launch on the Nintendo Switch sometime in March, followed by a release on all other platforms in April. These include… PC, Linux, Mac, Steam, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and the Xbox One.

Releasing alongside Specter of Torment will be Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, a digital game compilation for new players which includes the two past Shovel Knight campaigns (Shovel of Hope and Plague of Shadows), the new Specter of Torment DLC, and a yet unnamed fourth story featuring King Knight as the protagonist. Players that already own the base game will have these automatically installed if they keep current on updates.

Each standalone campaign will also be separately available for purchase following the collected edition’s release. As previously revealed, Specter of Torment will be $9.99 on Switch, and the Treasure Trove version of the game will be $24.99. No word yet if Treasure Trove will receive a physical release in the future.
