August is nearly at its end and that means the first inklings of autumn are in the air and a new batch of freebies is nigh for the Xbox Games with Gold program. In addition to granting access to Xbox Live services, the monthly subscription is also priming a lovely quartet of videogame freebies, with September’s haul confirmed to include the notable likes of Warhammer: Chaosbane and Zone of the Enders HD Collection.

As revealed in a new Xbox Wire post, next month’s Xbox Games with Gold introduces fantasy hack-and-slasher Warhammer: Chaosbane and indigenous Mexican adventure Mulaka to modern consoles, while Hideo Kojima’s mecha-shooter duology Zone of the Enders HD Collection and old-school blade fighter Samurai Shodown II are available through backward compatibility. A breakdown of each new Xbox Games With Gold title can be seen below.

Xbox Games With Gold for September 2021

• Warhammer: Chaosbane ($39.99 ERP): Available September 1 to 30
  • In a world ravaged by war and dominated by magic, you are the last hope for the Empire of Man. Choose your hero among four different character classes and prepare for legendary battles with up to four friends against the all-powerful Chaos hordes in this action role-playing game.
• Mulaka ($19.99 ERP): Available September 16 to October 15
  • In this action-adventure title based on the rich indigenous culture of the Tarahumara people, fight back against a strange foulness that is corrupting their land. As the local shaman, Sukurúame, draw upon the power of the demigods, solve puzzles, and fight hand-to-hand in environments inspired by real Sierra locations.
• Zone of the Enders HD Collection ($29.99 ERP): Available September 1 to 15
  • From Hideo Kojima, the creator of the Metal Gear series, comes a space epic like no other. Pilot the Orbital Frame, Jehuty, and help the Space Force defeat the Bahram forces once and for all. This title contains both Zone of the Enders and Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner, all in one collection.
• Samurai Shodown II ($9.99 ERP): Available September 16 to 30
  • Step onto the grand stage to test your skills in intense sword fights using the Rage System and Weapon Breaking Attack features. Play 15 of your favorite characters in this renowned weapon-wielding fighting game, against competition that is as sharp as ever.

Looking ahead, Warhammer: Chaosbane is a pretty solid title to lead next month’s selections and the addition of Zone of the Enders HD Collection is pretty timely, especially with Kojima-san’s next big project releasing around the same time. While all eyes are focused on September, it’s worth noting that August’s Xbox Games with Gold freebies are still in play for a few days. Most of this month’s games end on August 31st, but Yooka-Laylee will still be up for grabs well into September.
