Quake Remaster Now Available For PC, Consoles And Xbox Game Pass

Quake Remastered

As the video game medium continues to grow and see new generations of its hardware, the demand and need for updated versions of classic games increases as well. With new games becoming even more difficult and complex to develop, a common trend in recent years has been to remake and remaster fan-favorite games of the past. Some recent examples of this have been the original Crysis trilogy and the first three Final Fantasy games receiving remastered versions for current consoles. As a sudden surprise for fans, Bethesda Softworks has now unveiled their new Quake remaster for several platforms.

Bethesda has unveiled their Quake remaster with a trailer recently on their official YouTube channel. The classic 1996 fantasy FPS game has now been remastered with a fresh coat of modern graphical paint. The remaster maintains the game’s classic polygonal shapes and simple textures, but with clearer graphics and smoother animations making them feel like truly polished versions of Quake’s original form. The remaster even allows for widescreen visuals up to 4K-level quality.

The trailer confirms that the remaster includes the full original campaign of Quake, as well as its first three original major expansions. There is also a brand new Dimension of the Machine expansion that will provide veteran players with a new Quake experience as well. Developer Night Dive Studios has also made it possible for players to directly download mods and additional missions through the game to add to their playtime as well. There’s even online multiplayer and co-operative play modes as well, with crossplay being enabled across all of the game’s platforms. While sadly QuakeCon could not be held in-person this year, this is certainly a great way for Quake fans to be able to enjoy the game they loved through new eyes.
