Mario Golf: Super Rush Trailer Details Roster, Battle Royale Mode (VIDEO)
Following the game’s big reveal back in February, a new trailer for Mario Golf: Super Rush has now been unveiled, offering the best showcase yet regarding the game’s roster and all the various modes included in the new Nintendo sports title. Giving an overview of what to expect, players are shown the basics of how to tee off and navigate hazards on various available courses and are given the ins and outs of the single-player RPG campaign as well as local and online multiplayer modes.
As seen below, a great deal of the trailer gives focus to Speed Golf, a fast-paced mode that more or less takes inspiration from the battle royale genre. While the mode has featured in past Mario Golf games, this new iteration allows all players to all swing at the same time, creating a tense race to the finish as players quickly hit and chase their ball all the way to the green. To make matters more interesting, Speed Golf also grants players Special Dash and Special Shot maneuvers to further help turn the tides in one’s favor.
To make matters even more competitive, a variant called Battle Golf is also revealed to be in Mario Golf: Super Rush. Taking additional cues from the battle mode of Mario Kart, this mode puts players in a single super-sized arena, tasking participants with sinking their ball in three of the available nine holes before an opponent does the same. Adding even more difficulty, Battle Golf also scatters a variety of power-ups, stage hazards, and strategic slopes around the map.
In addition, the trailer also confirmed the 16 base character roster for Mario Golf: Super Rush, confirming mainstays like Luigi, Peach, and Bowser, while also including more obscure series characters like King Bob-omb and Chargin’ Chuck. The full list can be viewed below.
- Mario
- Luigi
- Wario
- Waluigi
- Peach
- Daisy
- Yoshi
- Bowser
- Bowser Jr.
- Boo
- Donkey Kong
- Rosalina
- Pauline
- Toad
- Chargin’ Chuck
- King Bob-omb
As it stands, Mario Golf: Super Rush is looking to be a pretty exciting entry for the long-running series, with Speed Golf and Battle Golf looking to be particular standouts for the Nintendo Switch release. While the campaign doesn’t appear to be as full-on bonkers as Mario Tennis Aces, there looks to be no shortage of fun to spare on the multiplayer side of things. While Mario Golf represents one of the only big releases scheduled for the Switch, Nintendo recently assured more games are coming later in 2021.
Mario Golf: Super Rush releases for Nintendo Switch on June 25th.
