The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Free Next-Gen Upgrade Announced

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Next-Gen Upgrade

While the majority of CD Projekt RED’s team is likely focusing on their next big RPG, fans are possibly still playing their past title that received critical acclaim. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is regarded as one of the best titles in the genre, and while the game may be five years old at this point, it’s coming to next-gen consoles.

The developers recently took to Twitter to let the fans know that The Witcher 3 is getting a free next-gen upgrade for the upcoming consoles that fans still don’t know when to expect. It won’t just be PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X users that will be able to take advantage, however, as PC players will also be receiving the visual and technical upgrades.

“Developed to take advantage of the most powerful gaming hardware, the next-gen edition of the game will feature a range of visual and technical improvements — including ray tracing and faster loading times — across the base game, both expansions, and all extra content,” reads the game’s website. Did I also mention that the upgrade is free, because it is free. Well, for current owners of The Witcher 3. However, should one not own the title yet, the enhanced version will also be sold as a standalone product for next-gen consoles and PC.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is currently available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with the next-gen upgrade arriving at some point in the future.
