Silent Hill Domain Goes Up For Sale

Well, it’s been a good while since Konami has tickled the minds of horror genre gamers out there. That is Unless a Silent Hill themed slot machine or the canceled game counts. Thanks to a hint from Twitter user “bobvids,” it looks like the company intends to abandon the original domain name and see it off to a good home.

The Silent Hill website could be yours for a measly sum of $9,835! Not sure what you’re going to do with it, but it’s probably better than what’s happening with the franchise now…which is nothing. What makes it all the more frustrating is that the abandoned Silent Hills sequel could have been a tantalizingly immersive and frightening experience. According to Alanah Pearce, it had real-world interactions: “I heard that Silent Hills would require you to sign a waiver before playing because it would somehow interact with your real-world self, like by sending you emails or text messages as characters from the game even when you weren’t actively playing.”

Hopefully with Hideo Kojima’s desire to jump back into the horror genre, Silent Hill fans can finally get the experience they’ve been waiting on for so long. What do you think about Konami’s disinterest in revitalizing the Silent Hills franchise? Do you feel like this is a missed opportunity to make money, or is this a strategic approach?
