Final Fantasy VII Remake's Second Episode Shouldn't Take As Long

The highly anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake absolutely dominated Square Enix’s presentation at E3 2019, and for good reason: the company is doing something practically unprecedented, remaking one of the most beloved RPGs of all time “for a new era.” To that end, the Japanese publisher is putting out all the stops to ensure things go smoothly, hence the lengthy wait time until the first part of the remake ships next year. That said, it likely won’t take nearly as long for the 2nd part of what will end up being a series of games to officially debut thanks to all the time spent on the first entry.

Final Fantasy VII Remake producer Yoshinori Kitase recently spoke about the upcoming title at E3, going into what the studio hopes to accomplish with a Final Fantasy VII that is being rebuilt from the ground up. While the game will obviously be split into multiple parts, according to Kitase-San it will thankfully take less time to develop future entries. ““While the development team finish the first game in the project, we are continuing to plan and outline the overall volume of content for the second,” he said.

Due to the work already done on the first game we anticipate development of the second game to be more efficient. We have our own internal schedule and plan, but for now we’d like to focus our information on the first game in the project.”

This is absolutely thrilling news, as roughly 0% of the population wants to wait another 5-6 years after part one releases to get their hands on part two. Here’s hoping all goes well with next year’s release.

Final Fantasy VII Remake launches exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on March 3, 2020.
