2K Games Recruits Prey and BioShock Designer For New Project

Cancelled BioShock Film

A new year has begun and with it are gamers looking forward to the biggest upcoming titles, and some in the industry are beginning their year with new projects to take on. One such industry figure is Shawn Elliott, formerly of Irrational Games, where he served under Ken Levine as a BioShock designer until Levine majorly downsized the company. Since then, Elliot recently found work on the new Prey game released last year. Now, Elliott has made it known that he has joined 2K Games to work on their latest project.

Restera user Nirolak has posted their latest findings of Shawn Elliott’s newfound employment. Elliott has shown on his personal LinkedIn account that in December of 2017, he officially joined 2K Games as the Principal Combat Designer at their new, currently unnamed studio located in Novato, California. With his work as a level designer for Arkane Studios on their Prey reboot released last year completed, and the franchise’s future not looking quite as bright as Arkane had hoped, it makes sense for Elliott to return to the publisher that released the BioShock games that he is best known for working on.

2K Games has not revealed what the game that Elliott and the Novato studio are working on, but many have theorized that it is a new entry in the BioShock series. The publisher has expressed interest in making a new BioShock game without the leadership of Ken Levine in the past, and having such a crucial person like Elliott who worked on the original games would be invaluable on a new game in the series. Whatever this game ends up being, it will most definitely have a quality combat system with such a masterful craftsman behind it.
