Yooka and Laylee are back with a brand new adventure in Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair! In 2017, Playtonic Games and publisher Team17 launched the original game for all major platforms and it was a hit. Gamers with platformers close to their hearts and dig the retro 2D feel from titles in the 90s in 3-D! It’s phenomenally fun for those seeking a brand new adventure to collect them all, solve puzzles, and fun environment designs. Plus, you can’t beat a soundtrack created by Donkey Kong Country composer David Wise and Banjo-Kazooi’s Grant Kirkhope. Check out the trailer below:

That’s all Playtonic Games is willing to show on Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair for now, but there’s more to come as the games industry opens up to E3 2019 this weekend. They’re currently working on a physical edition for console platforms. For the time being, here’s a synopsis on the sequel:

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is a 2D Platforming Adventure Hybrid. Master Yooka and Laylee’s medley of moves and traverse through charming and challenging 2D levels packed to the brim with collectibles, vibrant environments, and a bumbling batch of baddies to battle. Then, pull up your adventuring boots and explore a sprawling 3D overworld that boasts a wealth of puzzles, game-changing secrets, special challenges and a cast of colourful characters to chat to. You’ll meet some familiar faces, and some new ones, as you help Queen Phoebee restore order to the Royal Stingdom.”
