Details for Unconfirmed Warcraft Movie Sequel Revealed
With its release in June of 2016, Warcraft netted $433 million world wide and gained the title of highest-grossing film based on a game of all time. Set in the world of Azeroth, the film details the initial encounters the Orcs and Humans experience. The film was well received internationally, but didn’t quite hit fans the right way in North America, grossing less than $100 million in the states. Director Duncan Jones had a lot to say on Twitter recently on the film and the possibility of a Warcraft movie sequel.

In a Q&A on Twitter, fans were able to ask Duncan questions about the film, and many fans wanted to know if there would be a sequel. Be warned that the conversation contains spoilers, so if you haven’t seen the film and don’t want it spoiled, maybe check this out instead. Otherwise, here is what Mr. Jones had to say about the possibility of a Warcraft movie sequel:
I would love it… but not up to me. Up to @Legendary

Of course the decision falls on Legendary to make or break a Warcraft movie sequel, but that hasn’t stopped Jones from planning the details for the next film anyway. Through the questioning he had a lot to say on the Orcs. Their role in Azeroth growing as they settled into Azeroth and learned new skills:
(Doomplate) would have been in film 2, if it were to happen…With the orcs now in Azeroth, they learn about armor making in this new world.”
As details continued to spill, it sounded a lot like we would get to see the Orcs exploring Azeroth with a more focused story. Details such as Go’el’s imprisonment and bid for freedom, a Lothar arc, and Khadgar and Pandora’s Box were just a few of the things that he had to say. Jones mentioned that a Warcraft movie sequel:
…would have seen Dalaran LAND in the Alterac mountains & magic proliferate as Kirin Tor try to be more open after death of Llane.”
Overall, it sounds like Duncan Jones is ready for a Warcraft movie sequel and has learned from their mistakes in the first film. Will Legendary agree to a second film? That’s still up to speculation. The conversation does serve to make fans excited at the prospect of a film exploring their favorite places and characters. Time will tell if this dream will come true.
