Chucklefish Games Teases Future Games – Fans of Advance Wars Take Note

Chucklefish Games are the brilliant minds behind Starbound; the action-adventure sandbox hit that many fell in love with. This procedurally generated masterpiece was a large hit, allowing players to explore a galaxy of planets in a spaceship and build a large base while hopefully not dying miserably in the process.

One game is being dubbed “Spellbound”. The name is of course unconfirmed, but it’s picking up traction for the possible name, after Brice teased the “Spellbound Library” GIF, followed by his tweet, stating “This mockup has me even more Spellbound.” Brice did confirm that Chucklefish Games are working on two different games; one will be an “RPG/Sim set in a magical school, something like Stardew Valley meets Harry Potter.” There will be some typical sim features in the game, including day/night cycles, classes, dating, and more.

The other game is being described as a turn based strategy title that will be a spiritual successor to Advance Wars that “retains some of the pixel charm.” This game certainly has my interest, as I did love playing the aforementioned title. It appears to have a level creator, which will always appeal to a large number of players, and Brice has also showed off unit movement – check that short video out here.

Chucklefish has had a lot of success recently with Starbound and Stardew Valley being incredibly popular games with huge fanbases. Neither of the two titles mentioned above have been officially announced as of yet, but it appears they have made way too much progress on both for these to be “proof-of-concept”, so we can almost certainly look forward to official word from the developer.

Join in on the discussion in the comment section below and tell us your thoughts about these two new games, or even tell us about your previous experiences with other Chucklfish titles like Starbound and Stardew Valley. And don’t forget to check out our twitter for live updates as they happen!
